With the recent release of the latest adaptation of The Great Gatsby hitting cinemas, red carpets have been awash with celebrities dressed in 1920 inspired outfits with vintage wave hair and smoky eyes. 1920’s clothing has definitely made it into High Street stores so below we’ll show you how the ladies of that era applied their makeup to complete the look.
The first step in a 1920’s girls routine would be to apply a cream or ivory face powder. Towards the late twenties this changed to a base powder matched to the natural hue of the skin.
To frame the eyes, a dark liner in black or brown was applied to the brows and shaped in an extended thin, sloping line.
